It has begun the second stage of development of technical diving skills, that is held in city Sevastopol.  Crew of the yacht “Nikolaev” was split into two groups enrolled in different programs.

The first group of divers consisting of Sergey Hrypko, Yevgeny Moiseev and Guy Yurchenko led by an experienced instructor Eugene Komko underwent a course of PSA Ntrox diver, which is the basical in technical diving – further training without it is impossible. Throughout the week, we solved the problems associated with the supply of gas and oxygen enrichment admissible at different depths.

After this course, we followed up to the course PSA Deco Procedures diver for testing procedures, which can do nothing without in technical diving, as each new dive is a decompression dive and requires strict implementation of the plan of dives with stops at various depths for body desaturation of nitrogen. We learned to plan a dive considering all factors: time being at depth, gas supply to dive, decompression gas supply for the ascent.

Next course we had, was a PSA CCR Inspiration & Evolution Air Dilluent diver. In this course , we have mastered , what rebreathers of all models are, their advantages and disadvantages in different configurations. Rebreathers “Inspiration”, used by our team are the most reliable and modern means of a wide range of kinds of equipment used to dive to great depths. Rebreathers “Inspiration” are equipped with the latest generation of electronics and with two controllers. Controllers duplicative each other and provide accurate partial pressure of oxygen in the loop throughout the entire dive. However, even this reliable system does not ensure smooth immersion: divers should continually monitor the breathing mixture through the onboard computer. This is especially important because from the  course PSA Ntrox diver, we already know that oxygen is essential for the diver , but , nevertheless , it can also be deadly dangerous at great depths.

The second group, which consisted of Sergei Cherkes and Mikhail Nikolayev with Instructors Igor Rozhok and Alexey Baystruchenko successfully passed courses PADI Enriched Air Diver and PADI Rescue Diver. Certificate Enriched Air Diver, obtained as a result of the course, gives the right to dive with Nitrox oxygen percentage up to 40%. Recently, leading organizations offering technical diving training set off certificate PADI Enriched Air Diver as a basic course on the use of Nitrox.

Course Objectives:

  • Learn how to plan and implement the no-decompression dives with Nitrox with the percentage of oxygen in the mixture does not more than 40 %.
  • Learn how to calculate oxygen limits for dive, using the table of oxygen saturation DSAT.
  • Learn how to calculate immersion limits for nitrogen, using the tables of equivalent air depth DSAT and formulas.
  • Meet with practical moments of dives at nitrox: using an oxygen analyzer, labeling baloons, using Nitrox computer, etc.
  • Learn to recognize and avoid the hazards associated with increased oxygen content in the breathing mix, to properly take care of their equipment, to select optimal breathing mixture for the planned depth, to have an idea about how to use nitrox with an oxygen percentage of 40 to 60 %

PADI Rescue Diver course

PADI Rescue Diver course, without a doubt, can be considered as the most stressful, but also the most worthwhile course. We have not only expanded our theoretical knowledge, but also rose to a new level of excellence in diving. On the course we learned to watch not only for our own safety, but also to take into account the safety and well-being of other divers. Education in the course prepared us for the fact that we were able to avoid potential problems or, if they occur, to know how to find a way out of them.

Highlights of the course:

  • Self-rescue and diver stress
  • Managing an emergency situation
  • Help for the diver in a state of panic
  • Terms of cardiopulmonary resuscitation on the water
  • Egress (exits). Ways of coming out of the water

In addition, we worked through all the rescue skills during the simulation and playback of rescue scenarios.
